Ashton Eaton, Brianne Theisen-Eaton to be inducted into Oregon Sports Hall of Fame

PORTLAND — Bend’s Ashton Eaton and his wife, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, will be inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, the organization announced Monday.

Eaton, a two-time decathlon Olympic gold medalist and five-time world champion, retired in January. The Portland native grew up in La Pine and Bend and is a graduate of Mountain View High School and the University of Oregon.

Theisen-Eaton, also a former Duck, won bronze for Canada in the heptathlon at the 2016 Rio Olympics and gold in the pentathlon at the 2016 world indoor championships in Portland.

Also scheduled to be inducted at Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland on Sept. 19 are longtime Roseburg High football coach Thurman Bell, the 2002 University of Portland NCAA championship women’s soccer team, the 2006 and 2007 Oregon State College World Series champions, and Portland Paralympian gold medalist Aaron Paulson.
