Phillip Phillips returns to Bend

Since winning the 11th season of “American Idol” in 2012, folk-rocker Phillip Phillips has forged his own path through the pop music world. His two studio albums, 2012’s “The World From the Side of the Moon” and 2014’s “Behind the Light,” both cracked the Billboard 200’s top 10 with an organic, roots-based sound that was a far cry from squeaky-clean, radio-ready image of “Idol.” He further distanced himself in 2015 after settling a lawsuit against the show’s parent company, 19 Entertainment, and released the single “Miles,” which seemed to address some of the turbulence of the last few years. Expect more from his upcoming third album when he returns to Bend to play the Athletic Club on Tuesday. Portland singer-songwriter Corey Harper will open the show.
Phillip Phillips, with Corey Harper: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, doors open at 5:30 p.m.; $39 plus fees or $87 plus fees for dinner ticket; Athletic Club of Bend, 61615 Athletic Club Drive; clearsummernights.com or 541-385-3062.
