After the day-use area and boat ramp at Cultus Lake opened earlier in July, the full campsite will open for the rest of the season on Friday, according to a news release from the U.S. Forest Service.
In early June, the Forest Service closed the campground because of a large stand of diseased, dying trees, according to The Bulletin’s archives. But after contractors removed around 500 hazardous trees, the Forest Service announced that the campground, located about an hour southwest of Bend, is safe to use. The day-use area and boat ramp re-opened a week prior, on July 14.

All of the facilities at the campsite will be open on Friday, though visitors should expect to see small branches and other debris left over from the trees at the site.
As of noon on Wednesday, visitors can make reservations for the campground online at www.recreation.gov or by phone at 1-877-444-6777. The earliest day that can reserved is Monday, July 24, according to the Forest Service.
