Fixed wireless broadband provider Sureline Broadband, based in Madras, acquired Jefferson Broadband for an undisclosed sum, Sureline co-owner Josh Richesin said.

The sale, which closed on Saturday, included 11 towers serving about 200 customers in the Madras area, Richesin said. Jefferson Broadband customers will see no change in rates for their internet service, unless they would like to pay for faster download speeds, he said.

Jefferson Broadband customers pay $50 a month for downloads at up to 5 megabits per second, he said.

Sureline’s fastest residential service is up to 20 megabits per second, he said.

Jefferson Broadband had been in business for 13 years and was owned by Dave Wollam and John Stubbe, Richesin said. The company had no employees.

Sureline, which began three years ago in 
Madras, has about 2,000 customers from Madras to La Pine, Richesin said. Sureline serves customers from towers that it either owns or subleases from mobile broadband carriers. The acquisition gives Sureline access to a total of 30 towers, he said.
