Mt. Bachelor ski area will charge the general public $29 a day for lift tickets during three days of skiing and snowboarding in July, the general manager announced in an email Thursday.
Season pass holders will get a break and pay $19 a day, or $29 for three days, when the ski area opens July 2-4, wrote John McLeod in an email to season pass holders.
“Because skiing in July can’t be offered consistently every year, we do not price these additional operating days into our winter season pass,” he wrote. “Consequently, we depend on incremental ticket revenue to cover the additional costs and make our profit margin for this event in the years when we are able to pull it off.”
This year will be the ninth time the ski resort has scheduled summer skiing in its history, McLeod wrote. “The 578 inches of total snowfall is the third-most since record-keeping began in the early 1970s,” he wrote.
Skiing and snowboarding would be available from the Sunrise and Summit lifts. From the summit, skiers and snowboarders could descend the Marshmallow run back to the Sunrise lift. Runs to the east of Sunrise lift may be out of commission by then, sales and marketing manager Drew Jackson said in May.
Every July lift ticket can also be traded-in for a same-day ticket to use on the Sunshine Bike Park at West Village, McLeod wrote.
