Orvin Roger Hought

Orvin Roger Hought of Culver, Oregon, passed away on May 26th, 2017, in Madras, Oregon, at the age of 84. He was born in Noonan, North Dakota, on February 18th, 1933, to Eber and Geneva (Fagerland) Hought.

As a young boy, he moved to Irish Bend Oregon, where he graduated from Monroe Union High School, then briefly attended Oregon State College. In 1952, he enlisted in the Army, and then married Sara Cummins in 1955. They had three children. On December 22nd, 1961, he married Earlene Dearing and had three more children. He was a farmer and rancher, and together, they lived in the Monroe, Oregon, area before moving to Central Oregon in 1972, where he continued his farming career.

As a young man, he showed Black Angus bulls for competition. He prided himself on taking care of his yard and growing flowers. He enjoyed watching his three granddaughters play sports and was an avid photographer, proudly displaying his photographs in his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother, son, Jerry Hought and wife, Earlene. He is survived by his five children Gary Hought, Gayle Neligan, Julie Hought, Terry Narinesingh, and Jamie Hought; grandchildren Lindsey, Melissa and Ashley Gibson; great-grandchildren Nizaiah Gibson and Layla Johnson; sister, Maryann Mills and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 24th at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 386 North Fir St., Sisters, Oregon, with refreshments following.
