Bend-based Praxis Medical Group LLC, which operates several independent health care clinics in Central Oregon and other areas of Oregon, Washington and Idaho, has acquired the assets of Advanced Specialty Care, which operates surgery clinics in Bend and Redmond.
“We purchased the assets. We didn’t do a stock purchase. We didn’t purchase the company,” said Dan McCarthy, an administrator with the Central Oregon division of Adaugeo Healthcare Solution and Praxis Medical Group, on Thursday.

He declined to disclose terms.
Praxis Medical Group will assume Advanced Specialty Care’s assets on April 11, McCarthy said.
“We are excited about the affiliation with Praxis, in hopes of consolidating care and helping to reduce costs and increase quality,” said Rod Buzzas, medical director at Advanced Specialty Care.
Praxis group clinics include High Lakes Health Care, which operates two primary care clinics in Bend, and Endocrinology Services Northwest, which operates endocrinology clinics in Bend and Redmond.
“We now have three entities, with endocrinology and surgery expanding out from primary care,” McCarthy said. “We are quietly aligning health care companies under one umbrella, but it is important for people to understand that each of these clinics are still operated relatively independently. They have different cultures, and this acquisition will not change that. The primary care clinic is still a primary care clinic.”
All of the Praxis clinics are, or will be, affiliated with Adaugeo Healthcare Solutions, which is headquartered in Pendleton and provides shared IT services, electronic health records, software, human resources, purchasing and billing services for the individual clinics. McCarthy said it’s a relatively new approach to shared administrative services intended to reduce overhead costs.

Sharing administrative services also lowers health care costs, McCarthy said, adding that each of the clinics will still require medical records releases between companies.
