Prize-winning pie — A Jamaican pork belly pizza from Pisano’s Woodfired Pizza won first place in the nontraditional division, Northwest Region, at the International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas in March. Owner Ed Barbeau seasoned the gourmet pizza with a Jamaican barbecue sauce of his own recipe. It’s available at the Tumalo restaurant, just off U.S. Highway 20. Pizza and coffee — The Backyard Brick Oven Pizza & Pub has opened off Empire Way in northeast Bend. In addition to a fully licensed sports bar, the restaurant offers starters, salads, sandwiches and pizzas.
