One day before votes are counted, voters have remained largely on the sidelines in the May 16 election. In Deschutes County, 23.5 percent of voters had returned their ballots as of Monday evening. Turnout in Jefferson County was at 23.1 percent and in Crook County, 16.1 percent.

Voters have until 8 p.m. Tuesday to return their ballot at an official drop site. Ballots mailed today will not reach the clerk’s office in time and will not be counted.
