South Asian fare — The new Mantra Indian Kitchen kicked off business Saturday with a benefit for Central Oregon Locavore. A formal grand opening is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. Arun (Runi) Srikantaiah, owner of the Curry Shack mobile food cart, opened the restaurant in the former Fire in Bend space (Bond Street at Franklin Avenue), having inherited a built-in brick oven for tandoori recipes. He offers a range of dishes from across the Indian subcontinent. 744 NW Bond St., in downtown Bend.
