Ridgeview baseball gets hot late for third straight win

CENTRAL POINT — The baseball bats came alive for Ridgeview on Monday, allowing the Ravens to withstand a rally and kick off the four-day Crater Tournament with a win.
Four players had two hits apiece for Ridgeview, which scored once in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a tie and added two more runs in the sixth to provide enough of a cushion for the Ravens to hold on for a 6-4 victory over Franklin.

Evan Remick, Isaiah Gibson, Holden Penhollow and Ben Gunnells each had two hits for the Ravens (3-1), who won their third straight. Ridgeview’s J.T. Edmondson hit a two-run triple.

Roseburg 8, Redmond 3: REDMOND — Colby Darnell belted a three-run double in the Panthers’ nonconference loss. Colt Folston also had a double for Redmond (2-5).
Bear Creek (Colo.) 5, Bend 2: ANTHEM, Arizona — Cooper Simmonds, Ryan Stanley and Reece Gordon each had two hits in the Lava Bears’ loss on the first day of the Coach Bob Invitational. Steve Talamantes had a hit and an RBI for Bend (5-2).
Mountain View 13-6, Hermiston 2-7: HERMISTON — Chad Arnoldy had four hits and three RBIs in the opener, and Ryan Martini had three hits and Carson Corrigan had two for the Cougars in the nonleage win. In the second game, Hermiston scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win. Koltin Ramsay, Corrigan and Arnoldy each had two hits for Mountain View (2-4).

Softball
North Valley 10, Summit 7; South Umpqua 15, Summit 4: MEDFORD — The Storm (1-2) allowed eight unearned runs in their first game at the North Medford Spring Break Invitational before giving up 15 runs on 14 hits in a loss to South Umpqua. Summit’s Hailey Nelson went 3-for-4 with a double against North Valley, and Brooke Lee had two hits, including a three-run home run. In the Storm’s second game, Nelson, Molly Wasserman, Tiana Waller and Amanda Mellor each had two hits.
Mountain View 4, Dallas 3; Henley 18, Mountain View 0: MEDFORD — Ivy Vann went 3-for-4 with an RBI to help the Cougars erase a three-run deficit in a victory at the North Medford Spring Break Invitational, but Mountain View mustered just one hit in a loss to Henley to split its first two games of the two-day tournament. Against Dallas, Madison Leighton had two hits, Lexie Smith had a hit and an RBI, and Kayla Berg struck out 12 in a complete game for the Cougars (1-4). .
Ridgeview JV 13, La Pine 12 (8 innings): REDMOND — Ally Haworth went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and Stephanie Westbrook was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Hawks (2-5). Taylar Daggett and McKenzie Walsworth also had two RBIs apiece.
Boys lacrosse
Davis (Calif.) 12, Bend 9: DAVIS, Calif. — Bend clawed back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the score at 5-5 late in the first half, but penalties hurt the Lava Bears in the nonleague loss. Chance Beutler scored four goals and Cohl Johnston had three goals and three assists to lead Bend (2-2). Also for the Bears, Spencer Steckman and Spencer Burgess each scored a goal, and goalie Oliver Reese made 17 saves.
