Free 2016 income tax filing

The AARP is offering to prepare and electronically file your taxes for free.

The nonprofit’s TaxAide program will handle federal and Oregon income taxes for 2016. To take part, you don’t need to be an AARP member. There is no income or age restriction, either.

The IRS annually certifies the AARP TaxAide tax preparers, who are volunteers.

Since 1968, the AARP has operated the country’s largest volunteer-run tax assistance program, a spokesperson said in a press release.

Tax preparation will begin Feb. 1 at NeighborImpact, 2303 SW 1st St., in Redmond.

For more information and to make an appointment, call the Redmond AARP TaxAide at 541-526-3834.
