At Smith Rock Ranch, pumpkins are king.

This Central Oregon icon of all things fall continues to grow in popularity, not only for its U-pick pumpkin patch but for a plethora of other activities.

Classics include the Animal House petting zoo and Clydesdale-drawn wagon rides and of course pony rides. There’s also a zoo train, an archery station, barnyard miniature golf challenge and the all entertaining pumpkin cannon.

Perhaps the biggest draw to the ranch is the corn maze, which is featuring a “Batman” theme this year.

All of this family fun is set to live music most weekends in October and plenty of food and drink vendors serving up classic fall festival snacks and treats.

At DD Ranch, the Pumpkin Festival kicks off the fall season on Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the opening of the Pumpkin Patch.

On Saturdays and Sundays in October, families can enjoy live music, tastey foods and beverages and crafts by local artisans.

New this year are knockerballs that add a twist of fun, while the ever popular kids corral and hay maze, petting zoo, pony rides, cowboy arcade, hay rides out to feed the cows and the DD Dirt Express are sure to keep the kiddos laughing and smiling all day long.

You can also have fun with U-dig potatoes, harvest your own corn and U-pick pumpkins.

Weekends will feature a special theme for the kiddos.
