- Dave Feagans of Alpine Real Estate takes on presidency for 2016.
It all started in middle school wood shop — that is where Dave Feagans first discovered his passion for building and creating. The construction and building industry was a natural fit for him, and custom homebuilding in the Portland area was Feagan’s career for many years.
“Getting squeezed out of custom home building by the big production companies led me to my career as a Realtor,” said Feagans.
The shift was a positive one for Feagans, and in 2001 he moved with his family to Central Oregon to market and sell homes for a production homebuilder. In 2007, he and a good friend, Mike Connell, established their own local real estate company: Alpine Real Estate. Alpine began with three brokers and has steadily grown over the years to include nearly 20 brokers today. Feagans acknowledges that he has a strong passion for his work and for helping others.
“Helping people while making real estate a fun process for them is hugely rewarding and keeps me feeling like I’ve got something to give,” said Feagans.
In addition to loving his work, Feagans also appreciates nearly everything about the place he calls home.
“From the natural beauty of the entire region, to the creative and fun people that live and work here, we are among the luckiest folks in the world to be able to live, work, and enjoy this place we all call home,” said Feagans. “Clients and travelers are always quick to note that everyone is happy to be here, and are so relaxed and friendly.”
Recently installed as the President of the Central Oregon Association of Relators®, Feagans is excited about the opportunity to make an even bigger difference for the community. Prior to joining the COAR Board and Executive Committee, Feagans served on a variety of committees including Building a Better Central Oregon, MLS Executive, Grievance and Public Relations. Feagans has also served the association as the MLS Tour moderator for the past several years.
“I enjoy being in touch with some of the most talented, giving, and passionate people around,” said Feagans. “The position isn’t something that I sought after, it just sort of happened from getting involved, and I hope I can bring just a fraction of the class and respect to the position that so many others have done ahead of me.”
“Dave embodies a great energy and style to make a significant impact for our association,” said Scott Halligan, who serves as the past president of the COAR board of directors. “His style of leadership is one of enthusiasm, teamwork and a clear commitment and vision toward delivering new and improved value and resources to our membership.”
Feagan’s goals for the organization during his tenure include bolstering a positive image of his industry, to encourage and support the protection of private property rights, and to promote COAR as a primary resource for data regarding real estate in Central Oregon.
“As president of the association, in addition to working closely with a superb staff and CEO on keeping pace with technology, member services, government affairs and more, I also get to work closely with each of our ten active committees to help develop programs, education, goals and community giving,” said Feagans. “Also, I will be getting to know more of our almost 1800 members, which include some of Central Oregon’s finest business partners such as lenders, appraisers, inspectors, title companies, contractors, and many other service providers. I am continually impressed with the quality and dedication to our industry and community at large by our membership and staff.”
Additional members of the newly installed COAR Executive Committee include Bill Bellamy of Coldwell Banker-Dick Dodson as First Vice President, Carolyn Bostwick of Windermere Central Oregon as President Elect, and Scott Halligan of John L. Scott as Past President.
