Talbots, a women’s clothing store in the Old Mill District, will be closing in January as part of the company’s restructuring plan, said a customer service representative.

The store’s parent company, The Talbots Inc., reported a net loss of about $37.3 million as of July 30, according to a report filed Sept. 6 with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

As part of its plan, the company stated in a June news release, it plans to close 110 stores by 2013.

Talbots also has launched what it called upscale outlets, opening seven during the second quarter.

Noelle Fredland, marketing director for the Old Mill District, said Talbots is making alterations from its corporate structure down to its product lines.

According to Fredland, Talbots’ 3,281-square-foot Bend store opened in October 2006 and currently employs nine people. It’s scheduled to close Jan. 22.

Fredland said another retailer, which she could not name, will be taking Talbots’ spot.
