Join the La Pine Chamber of Commerce, City of La Pine and the USFS Newberry Caldera/Discover Your Crater Forest Service Team for the very special 25th anniversary of the Newberry Caldera National Monument!

If you were here in 1991 for the first dedication of the crater, you may recall that there was a special postage stamp issued called First Day Issue Stamp. We will have a new re-dedication stamp issue for this celebration. If you still have your poster, bring it with you and have it stamped again.Original posters will be available for the first hundred folks who come to celebrate!

The stamp event will take place Thursday, June 30, 5-7 p.m., at Ogden Group Camp (4 miles north of downtown La Pine on HWY 97, the turn is next to Cascade Meadows Resort. Turn East and follow Paulina road for five miles toward the crater). The event kicks off a week-long celebration, which will culminate during Frontier Days in La Pine.

Come and celebrate Oregon’s other crater right here in our back yard! The crater offers camping, an informative ranger station, two lakes for fishing and water sports, the largest obsidian flow in North America, trails for hiking and biking, boat and cabin rentals and restaurants at the two resorts.

Join us with your family to be part of a landmark event and be a part of La Pine’s new history!
