Crane Prairie Reservoir is famous for producing hefty rainbow trout. Rainbows are stocked in Crane Prairie each spring, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The largest rainbows there can grow up to 19 pounds, and most range between 14 and 18 inches long. Brook trout also make Crane Prairie their home, and most measure between 10 and 14 inches.
Getting there: From Bend, drive south on U.S. Highway 97 for 15 miles and turn west at the Sunriver exit onto Forest Route 40. Continue about 22 miles to the junction with Forest Route 4270, turn left and follow signs to Crane Prairie Resort.
Main catch: Rainbow trout, brook trout, largemouth bass
