Elks swept in weekend series

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A four-run sixth inning allowed Bellingham to pull away from Bend for a 6-0 West Coast League shutout and a weekend sweep on Sunday.

Austin Feist had a double, accounting for one of three hits for Bend (3-7), which lost its fourth straight.

Elks starter Ryan Ward (0-1) gave up four of Bellingham’s nine hits and took the loss despite striking out five in 42⁄3 innings. Colin Maier (1-0) picked up the victory for the Bells, which handed the Elks their first shutout of the season. Shane Hanon added a double for Bellingham (5-4).

The Elks host Salem in an exhibition game Tuesday before returning to WCL play Wednesday against Yakima Valley at Vince Genna Stadium.
