Teenagers looking to do environmental conservation work this summer can apply by May 1 for the Central Oregon Youth Conservation Corps.

The eight-week program from the U.S. Forest Service and Heart of Oregon involves building fences, maintaining trails and cleaning campgrounds, among other work on public lands in the region. Crew members can earn school credit, scholarships and minimum wage.

Applicants must be between ages 16 and 18 and attend an orientation. The program runs from June 27 to Aug. 18. For information, call 541-633-7834 or visit www.heartoforegon.org.
