‘History Pub’ to be held at McMenamins

The Des Chutes Historical Museum and The Oregon Encyclopedia will host History Pub, a new monthly series that will cover statewide history with a variety of guest speakers.

The event will be held at McMenamins Old St. Francis School (700 N.W. Bond St., Bend) the last Tuesday of every month beginning May 24 at 6 p.m.

For the inaugural History Pub event, local author James Crowell will present “The Compleat History of Bend: From Two-man Saws to Victoria’s Secret and Zip Lines.” Crowell is the author of “Frontier Publisher.”

Admission is free and doors open at 5 p.m. The event is open to all ages. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from McMenamins.

The first presentation will be held in the McMenamins theater. Subsequent History Pubs will be held in the Father Luke room.

The Oregon Encyclopedia is a “comprehensive and authoritative compendium of information about Oregon’s history and culture,” according to a press release.
