March 29, 1922- Dec. 12, 2015

“Painting is silent poetry…”

Born March 29, 1922. Received by God, December 12, 2015, Helen McBride lived a rich and bountiful life. Growing up on a farm in Crookston Minnesota, Helen was the third of nine children. She had natural mechanical skills, and work ethic which she developed through the demand of farm life. From this skill she became gainfully employed at Douglas Aeronautics, and later the Bendix Corporation. Bendix provided her a great career and comfortable retirement. It was through friends at Bendix where she would meet and marry her husband, John P. McBride. Jack, like Helen, loved to dance and they would spend countless hours in each others arms on the dance floor.

Helen truly enjoyed retirement with Jack, they travelled the world, and spent time with family and grandchildren. Moving to Terrebonne in 1988, Helen continued to express herself through painting; filling her home with landscapes and still life paintings. She graciously gave her art to family, friends and her church. Her passion for the outdoors helped to foster relationships with her grandsons, Justin with fishing and Jared with gardening. Helen loved to fish and often bragged how she could catch more fish than her husband Jack. Faith was very important to Helen and Jack. They attended Zion Lutheran Church in Redmond, OR.

Helen is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jack McBride; by sons, Larry and Steve Foster; grandsons, Justin Smith (wife, Alli, granddaughters, Virginia Helen and Audrey Jean); grandson, Jared Smith; step-sons, Mike and Peter McBride, Tony LaCerra and adopted daughter, Barbara Remley. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Janice Y. Smith.

She was well loved and will be missed.
