Details: Bend-based Nosler Inc. subsidiary Ammunition Development Corp. has built a new, 30,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Redmond.
Ammunition-maker Nosler Inc. announced plans in February to expand its manufacturing capacity by building on 60 acres west of the Redmond Airport.
Construction should be complete by Jan. 20, said Jesse Oatman, project superintendent for Kirby Nagelhout. Work on the $2.4 million building project began in August, he said.
Oatman described the building as a basic, tilt-up style building, “nothing special, a square box.” The concrete walls are poured in horizontal forms then tilted up into place. The walls contain between 1,500 and 2,000 cubic yards of concrete, he said.
Nosler obtained a four-year abatement on taxes on real property, including the building and machinery, as part of the Redmond enterprise zone, said Heather Richards director of the Redmond Community Development Department. The city also obtained $209,606 in state grants to assist with street, water and sewer improvements at the site. Another subsidiary, Nosler Investments LLC, paid $869,000 for the property in December 2014.

The building is designed to accommodate machinery purchased from the former Silver State Armory, a Packwood, Washington, firm purchased by Nosler in 2013, and machinery to be moved from Nosler’s Bend plant on SW Columbia Street. A Nosler spokesman said 20 employees will fill manufacturing and supervisory positions in the new plant, according to The Bulletin archives.
