Food-delivery service expands to Bend

The Portland-based soup-delivery company SoupCycle began taking orders in Bend on Monday. The company, which began in 2008 and expanded to Corvallis in 2010, is a pay-as-you-go weekly delivery service for healthy soups, salads and other items.

SoupCycle’s website features a rotating list of items which can be ordered and delivered the following week, according to Jim Marshall, manager for SoupCycle in Bend. Marshall said the soup list rotates through the company’s 39 recipes, but the offerings always include one meat-based soup, one vegetarian soup, one vegan soup, and one seasonal “chef’s special.”

The company has no storefront, and relies on bike deliveries. Marshall, who has lived in Bend for more than a decade, said the community’s interest in healthy eating and biking made the expansion a natural fit.

Once the company begins delivering, next week, deliveries will arrive on Tuesdays for customers west of the Deschutes River, and Wednesdays for customers east of the river. A full map of delivery locations can be found on SoupCycle’s website.
