Morris Ole Olafson of La Pine, passed away on April 15, 2015, he was 82.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at High Lakes Christian Church, located at 52620 Day Rd., in La Pine.
Ole was born in Milnor, North Dakota, on February 17, 1933, to John and Celia (Chetney) Olafson.
In 1941, the family moved to Portland, Oregon. He was a graduate of the Class of 1951, at Roosevelt High School. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the US Air Force, and proudly served his country four years during the Korean War. After his service, he married Shirley Marie Hobaugh on April 4, 1959, in Portland, Oregon. They were blessed with two children, a son and a daughter.
Ole worked for American Steel and Supply in Portland. In 1968, the family moved to Eugene where he became sales manager, then general manager of the Eugene plant. After retiring in 1991, Ole and Shirley moved to La Pine.
Ole loved to play golf, sing out loud, work in his wood shop, spend time with his family, and watch the Oregon Ducks play football! Ole was also a member of High Lakes Christian Church, and the La Pine Chapter of Band of Brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of La Pine, OR; son, John Olafson of Redmond, OR; daughter, Margaret (husband, Hugh) Boyd of Portland, OR; sister, Caroline Schlitt of Sherwood, OR; two grandchildren, Michelle and Brittany Olafson; one niece, Debbie Schlitt of Molalla, OR; and one nephew, Perry (wife, Debbie) Schlitt of West Linn, OR. He is preceded in death by his parents.
