SAN DIEGO — Stephen Strasburg rebounded from a rough start to beat San Diego for the fourth straight time, and Bryce Harper and Danny Espinosa hit three-run homers to power Washington to a victory. The Nationals won the final three of the four-game series and for the 15th time in 19 games. Justin Upton homered twice for the Padres, raising his season total to 10, and Jedd Gyorko hit his second. San Diego’s revamped roster has scored only six runs in its past three games.

CHICAGO — A.J. Burnett worked around five walks while pitching seven innings, and Pittsburgh stopped a four-game losing streak by cooling off the Chicago Cubs. Burnett allowed three hits and struck out seven while handing Jake Arrieta his first loss in six career starts against Pittsburgh. Burnett (3-1) has allowed two runs or less in each of his eight starts this year after losing 18 games with Philadelphia last season.

PHILADELPHIA — Sean O’Sullivan won a big league game for the first time in more than four years, staying in after he was hit on the throat by a throw from his own catcher, and Philadelphia beat Arizona for its first five-game winning streak since last summer. O’Sullivan (1-2) allowed five hits in six innings, struck out four and walked two. He turned to talk to his fielders in the sixth with two on and a full count, then as he pivoted to face the plate was struck on the throat with a throw by Cameron Rupp. Philadelphia manager Ryne Sandberg came to the mound and, after a brief delay and one warmup toss, O’Sullivan retired Aaron Hill on a flyout with his next and final pitch of the day.

Mets 5, Brewers 1

NEW YORK — Prized Mets pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard earned his first major league win, the success tempered when he beaned Carlos Gomez with a 96 mph fastball, and New York beat Milwaukee. Syndergaard (1-1) shut down the Brewers for the first five innings in his Citi Field debut, giving up just one single. In the sixth, he gave everyone a scare. After a leadoff single, Syndergaard hit Gomez squarely in the helmet. The two-time All-Star outfielder went face down in the dirt for a few seconds, and Syndergaard clapped into his glove when Gomez was helped into a sitting position by two Milwaukee trainers.

MIAMI — Shelby Miller’s no-hit bid ended with two out in the ninth inning Sunday when Justin Bour singled sharply up the middle, and the Atlanta right-hander pitched a two-hitter in a win over Miami that completed a three-game sweep. Miller easily retired the first two batters in the ninth before Bour singled on the first pitch, a 95-mph fastball. Dee Gordon then reached on an infield single before Martin Prado popped out.

ST. LOUIS — Kolten Wong hit a tiebreaking home run in the sixth inning and Lance Lynn got his fifth career RBI to back his dominant pitching as St. Louis beat Detroit to avoid a three-game sweep. Miguel Cabrera’s RBI double in the first was the only damage against Lynn (3-3), who gave a weary bullpen a break before walking the last two batters he faced at the end of his 71⁄3 innings. Seth Maness’ only pitch got a double-play ball to end the eighth and Trevor Rosenthal finished for his 13th save. Matt Carpenter added two hits and Peter Bourgos tripled and scored on Lynn’s single in the third. The Cardinals improved to a major league-best 25-12 despite having two players thrown out at the plate.
