Michael Jandreau, 71: The leader of South Dakota’s Lower Brule Sioux Tribe for 35 years was known for a variety of economic development projects but had recently faced allegations of financial wrongdoing. Died Friday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Hayley Okines, 17: Campaigner who raised awareness of the rare genetic condition progeria, which causes those affected to age about eight times faster than average. She also published an autobiography at 14 detailing her life with the condition. Died Thursday at her home in England.
Miroslav Ondricek, 80: Cameraman whose intimate, realist style propelled him from Communist Czechoslovakia to a successful career in Hollywood, where he was nominated for two Academy Awards for cinematography. Died March 28 in Prague.
