Lava Bears notch 8-inning win in Arizona

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Jacob Parsons scored the tiebreaking run on a double steal in the top of the eighth inning, and Brian Blasquez held Green Mountain (Colorado) scoreless in the bottom half of the inning as Bend High claimed a 2-1 win on the second day of the Coach Bob Invitational baseball tournament.

Blasquez, who was the second half of the go-ahead double steal, struck out four batters and stranded five runners in three scoreless innings for the win. Starting pitcher Kota Carter struck out 10 in five innings.

Justin Parsons gave the Bears (4-1) a 1-0 lead in the third inning, scoring on a sacrifice fly after reaching base and then stealing second and third.

La Pine 12, Crook County 2: MADRAS — La Pine scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to down Crook County in five innings on the first day of the Madras Tournament. Tyler Ashcraft had two hits, including a double, and Angelo Roes had three RBIs to lead the Hawks (3-1) offensively. Jake Farnsworth pitched four innings for the victory, and John Malsom finished with a scoreless inning of relief. Chase McCall, Trevor Slawter and Spencer Copeland each hit a double for the Cowboys (2-2).

Banks 13, Madras 2: MADRAS — The White Buffaloes (0-3) rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning but could not close the 11-run deficit any further, and the 10-run rule ended the contest after five innings on the opening day of the Madras Tournament. Madras pitchers Aaron Winishut, Austin Rauschenburg and Chad Thurby allowed a combined nine hits in five innings of work.

North Marion 6, Ridgeview 5: PORTLAND — The Ravens slipped to 1-4 with the one-run loss on the second day of the North Marion Tournament. No game details were reported.
