Assuming her official bio is to be believed, Cyrille Aimée’s background is a wonderful storybook tale.

Raised in France by a Dominican mother and French father, “she would sneak out of her bedroom window to wander into the nearby gypsy encampments filled with those attending the annual Django Reinhardt Festival” that celebrated the iconic gypsy-jazz guitarist, her website says.

Later, she traveled across Europe, singing on street corners with friends. Along the way, she stumbled into the top prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival’s vocal competition.

Charming, isn’t it?

Yes, that’s the word for Aimée, and her music. She is blessed with a voice that is strong and textured, but also supple and inviting. And she sings with ease, or at least she makes it look and sound easy. This weekend, Aimée will stop in Bend on a tour with her longtime duo partner Diego Figueiredo, a super-skilled Brazilian jazz guitarist with whom she recorded a couple of albums in 2009 and 2010.

Together, their styles — her lilt and gypsy swing, his gentle fusion of Latin jazz and pop — combine in a way that’s transportive, as great jazz tends to be. Close your eyes and let their aural breeze carry you away to some storybook world of your own.

Cyrille Aimée & Diego Figueiredo; 8 tonight, 5 and 8:15 p.m. Saturday; SOLD OUT; The Oxford Hotel, 10 NW Minnesota Ave., Bend; www.jazzattheoxford.com or 541-382-8436.
