The sale of The Riverhouse Hotel & Convention Center in Bend is a done deal, the parties announced Wednesday.

The new owner, Vesta Hospitality, a Vancouver, Washington, firm, plans upgrades to the 220-room hotel and Crossings Restaurant at Mt. Washington Drive and NE Third Street. Improvements will begin in fall and finish by spring 2016, according to a news release from Vesta Hospitality.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Wayne Purcell, whose family and Arnie Swarens built the original hotel in 1974, in a news release thanked the hotel and convention center employees who “make The Riverhouse what it is today.” Swarens sold his share in the 1990s.

Purcell, who announced the pending sale a month ago, said his family will continue to operate the River’s Edge Golf Course and develop residential lots nearby.

Vesta also plans to upgrade technology in the property and enhance sales to bring tourists to the hotel and convention center on the Deschutes River, according to the company release.
