COLLEGE NOTES

Alexa Deann Westberg, of Bend, was named to the fall 2014 dean’s list at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Kelsea Pacheco, of Bend, was named to the fall 2014 dean’s list at Colorado State University, Pueblo.

Kendall Kramer, of Bend, was named to the fall 2014 dean’s list at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.

Alethea Lund, of Bend, has earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from George Fox University.

TEEN FEATS

Allie Bowlin , a senior at Summit High School, was named The Center Foundation’s High Desert Hero for February 2015. She is a member of the National Honor Society, is the elected vice president of Interact Club and participates in Link Crew. Each month, The Center Foundation accepts nominations for high school seniors who maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA, display leadership in school activities and participate in community volunteer efforts. Bowlin will receive a $250 scholarship.

YOUTH NOTES

Cascade School of Music guitar student Lena Vandervelde has won the January 2015 Fortissimo Award, which recognizes students at the school who show exemplary musical talent and effort. She received an award certificate, $100 toward private lessons and gifts from Papa Murphy’s and Cascade School of Music. She is eligible to win a $1,000 award during Crescendo Bendo in May.
