Frigid First Friday

Winter in Central Oregon means chilly air, puffy jackets, sometimes snow and slippery sidewalks. None of the above, however, will stop tonight’s First Friday Gallery Walk, in which businesses in downtown Bend and the Old Mill District stay open late and offer wine, snacks and live music to folks who brave the weather for the sake of art.

Here are some of the highlights:

• At the Franklin Crossing building, 550 NW Franklin Ave., the walls will feature works by painter Susan Busick, and a reception will be held from 5-8 p.m.

• The Oxford Hotel, 10 NW Minnesota Ave., will host an exhibit of photographer Bernard Gateau’s work, with a reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

• Paul Scott Gallery, 869 NW Wall St., will showcase works by woodcarver Stan Peterson. A reception will be held from 5-9 tonight.

• “Signs of Spring” is the name of the exhibition at Red Chair Gallery, 103 NW Oregon Ave., which will feature new works by photographer Dorothy Eberhardt and Cambrian Company woodworking by Ian Herdell and Laura Childers. A reception will be held from 5-9 tonight.

• Townshend’s Bend Teahouse, 835 NW Bond St., Bend, will host “Gold Standard,” tattoo-inspired art by Dirk Spece and KC Carew of Gold Standard Tattoo.

• “Winter Salon” at Tumalo Art Co., 450 SW Powerhouse Drive, Suite 407, will feature small artwork and fine art ornaments, plus a reception from 4-8 p.m.

Have fun, Art Walkers! Wear shoes with good traction.
