Newberry Event returns to La Pine

The second annual Newberry Event — a music and arts festival — will go down this weekend at the DiamondStone Guest Lodges, located about seven miles north of La Pine and two miles west of U.S. Highway 97.

This thing is big, folks, and the poster offers a peek at the programming: music, camping, food, art, craft beers, silent auction, wine tasting. It’s family friendly, too.

Let’s start with the music. The biggest names here are veteran Western/comedy band Riders in the Sky and guitarist Craig Chaquico of Jefferson Starship. Also on the bill: folk duo Brewer & Shipley (of “One Toke Over the Line” fame), pianist for peace Louis Landon and Pink Floyd tribute Pigs on the Wing, plus Terry Robb, Vagabond Opera, Rose’s Pawn Shop, locals Lino, Voodoo Highway, The Rum and the Sea and more.

In addition to the music, there will be local artisans offering their wares, food vendors, beer from Sunriver Brewing, onsite pancake breakfasts and more. Campsites come with your ticket purchase.

The whole thing is a fundraiser for Oregon’s Multiple Sclerosis Society, and there’s tons more info at the website below.
