Try a hamburger and salad when munching at Burger King

Burger King officials have said the chain will phase out trans fats in its foods by the end of the year. But until they do, foods fried in oil remain a worse nutritional choice. That means a Croissan’wich with egg and cheese has less unhealthy fat (combined saturated and trans fats) than the french toast sticks, and flame-broiled burgers less than the chicken tenders.

Croissan’wich with egg and cheese: 300 calories, 17g total fat, 6g saturated fat, 1.5g trans fat

French toast sticks (five piece): 390 calories, 20g total fat, 4.5g saturated fat, and 4.5g trans fat

Hamburger, cheeseburger or Whopper Jr.: Less than 400 calories, 13g-22g total fat, 5-8g saturated fat, less than 1g trans fat

Chicken Tenders (five piece): 210 calories, 12g total fat, 3.5g saturated fat, and 2.5g trans fat.

The french fries and onion rings have too much trans fat, at 3.5 and 4.5 grams for a small order. You are better off just getting the burger with a side salad (pictured).
