Editorial full of holes

Your opinion piece regarding the possible Redmond outdoor smoking ban in “some spots” was arguably weak and full of holes. You cannot defend a smoker’s right to pollute while concurring the negative effects of this egregious habit. Further, you recommend nonsmoking taxpayers to support this senseless and disgusting activity by providing numerous public ashtrays and warning signs. I’m surprised you didn’t consider drive-by curb-ashtrays for those who occasionally flick their expired butts out the window. A flat-out ban would not be extreme, but makes good sense. There would be no confusion, only zero-tolerance for polluting the precious air we breathe.
