A gas leak in Sunriver forced the evacuation of approximately 10 homes Wednesday afternoon, according to the Sunriver Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to Goldfinch Lane around 2:35 p.m. after a 2-inch gas line was cut during a road repair project. Firefighters and officers with the Sunriver Police Department evacuated the homes in the immediate area and advised others to stay inside their homes, and also shut down a stretch of bicycle path and closed the road between Circle 5 and the Cardinal Bridge.

Crews from Cascade Natural Gas arrived to shut off the gas at approximately 3:26 p.m., and roads were reopened and residents allowed to return to their homes 15 minutes later.
