Military Notes

Air Force Airman Tyler Dunn has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. He is a 2013 graduate of Trinity Lutheran High School in Bend. He is the son of Kenneth Dunn and Wendi Murphy, of Bend.

college notes

Jared Doolan, of Bend, was named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.

Nicole Davis, Melissa Watkins and Samuel Wegner, all of Bend, were named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.

Teen Feats

Three local youths recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout from Boy Scouts of America.

Scott Kinkade is a member of Troop 120 and attends Summit High School. For his community service project, Kinkade contributed 154 hours to install paver stones around the flagpole, upgrade the irrigation and plant vegetation at High Lakes Elementary in Bend. He is the son of Peggy and Brent Kinkade, of Bend.

John Murphy is a member of Troop 21 and attends Summit High School. For his community service project, Murphy contributed 276 hours to plan, develop and construct a multi-use breeding and storage building for the High Desert Museum. He is the son of Rich and Bissy Murphy, of Bend.

Joseph Schwarz is a member of Troop 21 and attends Bend High School. For his community service project, Schwarz contributed 209 hours to build a trail at the Diocese of Baker Powell Butte Retreat Center, which measured 384 feet long by 2½ feet wide and included the 14 Stations of the Cross, which symbolize Jesus’ journey to his crucifixion. He is the son of Doug and Janet Schwarz.
