Submitted photo Motorbreath’s tribute to MetallicaNo matter what you think of their musical output and/or public personas in the past two decades, there is no denying that Metallica was an absolutely awesome band through its first three, four or five albums, depending on who you ask. (The Black Album is solid, I say.) Brutal and melodic, the quartet arguably did more to move metal into the mainstream than any other band ever. Fortunately, Motorbreath, a Metallica tribute act based in the Portland area, gets it. The band has been playing Metallica’s best stuff around the region for years, and when they visited Bend in 2008, they told The Bulletin they only do songs from the first five albums. Why? “Nobody wants to hear anything after that,” the band said. On Saturday, Motorbreath returns to Central Oregon for a show at Big T’s in Redmond. Get your horns ready, headbangers! (Oh, and details below.) Dojo hosts Female rappersHere’s something we don’t get every week: An all-female rap show on a Monday night in a sushi bar! But next week, the Muzes Tour rolls into Dojo downtown, bringing with it MCs Valentina, Kelley Mak, Jaeda and Sassy. Google ‘em to hear how they flow. Details below.— Ben Salmon
