Nyquist

Donovan and Nancy (Hansen) Nyquist, of Bend, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family celebration at Mt. Bachelor’s Pine Marten Lodge.

The couple were married Aug. 29, 1964, at Powell Valley Covenant Church in Gresham. The groom’s father performed the ceremony. They have two children, Natalie (and Brent) Miller, of Issaquah, Washington, and Eric (and Holly), of Bend; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Nyquist worked at Erickson’s Thriftway and retired in 2009. He was a baker for 44 years and owned Prineville Bakery for 13 years. Mrs. Nyquist worked as a teacher for Bend-La Pine Schools and retired in 2002. She was hired to replace her second-grade teacher and taught alongside her first-grade teacher. The couple plan to travel to Utah’s national parks this fall and Mexico this Christmas.

They have lived in Central Oregon for 42 years.
