COTTAGE GROVE — Logan Schutte scored the game’s only touchdown midway through the fourth quarter Friday night to give Sisters a 7-0 upset win over Cottage Grove, last year’s Class 4A state runner-up.
After “shooting ourselves in the foot multiple times,” according to Outlaws coach Gary Thorson, Sisters put together a scoring drive that resulted in Schutte’s 7-yard touchdown run with 8 minutes, 59 seconds left in the game. The Outlaws defense did the rest, coming up with three fourth-down stops to seal the Sky-Em League victory.
Mitch Gibney paced Sisters’ offense, rushing for 101 yards on 22 carries. Sisters (2-0 Sky-Em, 3-2 overall) hosts Junction City in another Sky-Em contest next week.
