Brooks Resources Corporation was recognized in New York Wednesday for its contribution to the art scene in Bend.

Each year Americans for the Arts, a nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, recognizes 10 U.S. companies for their commitment to the arts through local partnerships, according to a news release. Brooks Resources, a Bend-based real estate development company, was the only Oregon business on the list.

Campbell Consulting nominated Brooks Resources for the honor.

“The reason we nominated them is because they’re such an inspiring community leader when it comes to many things, especially the arts,” said founder Judy Campbell. “They really deserve recognition for the good work they’re doing. Whenever someone gets recognized you hope it inspires others to step up in the community as well.”

According to Brooks Resources’ website, The Bend Foundation — a philanthropic organization established by Brooks-Scanlon, Inc., and shareholders of Brooks-Scanlon and Brooks Resources — was established by Brooks Resources to support programs including Art in Public Places and the Cascade Festival of Music.
