A heat lamp sparked a fire in a pump house early this morning in northern Deschutes County that caused about $35,000 damage, according to the Redmond Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived at the property on NW Wimp Way near the Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint around 3:30 a.m., they found a fire burning in the pump house and flames threatening another building, according to a news release. Crews extinguished the fire before it moved to the second building. The fire department reminds residents to keep at least 3 feet of clear space around alternate heat sources.
