A pedestrian killed Friday night in La Pine today was identified as Angela Michelle Bartleson, 44, of La Pine.

And the driver of the vehicle that struck Bartleson allegedly fled the accident on foot, according to a news release from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office. The victim died at the scene.

Jerry Steven Hannu, 45, of La Pine, was jailed on an accusation of failure to perform the duties of a driver to an injured person. Hannu was driving northbound in a full-size pickup on U.S. Highway 97 when he allegedly struck Bartleson, who was in the roadway, the sheriff’s office said. The incident shortly before 9 p.m. occurred in front of the La Pine Inn Restaurant near William Foss Road.

The investigation is continuing, the sheriff’s office said.
