Music and metal art at humm kombucha
Humm Kombucha in Bend will host a reception for metal artist Joseph Balsamo from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.
According to the Facebook page for the event, the evening will also include an introduction to new Bend brewing outfit Monkless Belgian Ales and the music of singer-songwriter John Forrest. Food purveyors Soul Bowl and The Jerk Kings will provide the eats.
Humm Kombucha’s brewery and tasting room is located at 1125 NE Second St., Bend.

Ceramics sale at COCC
Central Oregon Community College ceramics students are offering their handcrafted, unique ceramics up for sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Dec. 5 in Pence Hall, 2600 NW College Way, on COCC’s Bend Campus.
Along with the chance to buy an original gift or two, you can rest easy knowing proceeds from sales will go to students who created the pieces.

BEAT takes on ‘The Hobbit’
The folks at Bend Experimental Art Theatre, better known as BEAT, will soon present their production of “The Hobbit,” a dramatization by Patricia Gray based on the classic tale by J.R.R. Tolkien. Follow the adventures of a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, who’d rather stay in his cozy home than help recover an important treasure.
Performances are at 7 p.m. Dec. 5-6 and 12-13; 2 p.m. Dec. 6 and 13; and 3 p.m. Dec. 7 and 14.
The show, directed by Emile Lathrop, will be staged at 2nd Street Theater, 220 NE Lafayette Ave., Bend.
Tickets are $15, $10 for students younger than 18, and are available in advance at www.tickettails.com.
