Merlin and Alice (Heyl) Sizemore, of Redmond, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a family celebration at Anderson Lodge in Cougar, Washington, during Labor Day weekend.

The couple were married Nov. 11, 1944, at St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Ocean Park, California. They have 10 children, Patrick (and Nancy), of Kirkland, Washington, Kathryn, of Redmond, James (and Susan), of Newberg, Martha (and Charles) Meyer, of Terrebonne, Mary (and Larry) Fipps, of Springfield, Mark (and Carla), of Seattle, Theresa (and Eric) Jones, of Eugene, Christopher, of Bend, and Daniel (and Audrey) and Anne (and Allan) Heath, both of Creswell; 33 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sizemore worked as a certified public accountant and retired in 1985. He was the president of the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce in 1969, the year the town won an All American City award. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Elks and Lions clubs. Mrs. Sizemore worked as a secretary at Nissen & Meyer CPAs and retired in 1991. She sang with a USO Troop from 1943-44.

They have lived in Central Oregon for 44 years.
