Caroline Boos Gates, of Bend, died Saturday of natural causes. She was 40.

A funeral will be held Saturday at Lakewood Memorial Chapel in Minneapolis. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.

Ms. Gates was born July 26, 1967, in Minneapolis, the daughter of William and Joan (Prink) Boos. She graduated from Bend High School, and she earned a degree in liberal arts from Seattle University.

Ms. Gates worked at a health club and for a development company in California. She was affiliated with Grace First Lutheran Church in Bend. She enjoyed music and volunteering at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend. She had lived in Bend for the last five years.

Survivors include a son, Maxwell; her mother, of Bend; and a brother, Bill Boos, of Bend.

She was preceded in death by her father.
