Stop development

I read The Bulletin’s editorial comments on the Idaho Power proposal for a power line to cross Eastern Oregon farmland. I think it’s interesting that you feel we should sit back and watch while Idaho Power destroys our quality of life, our ability to make a moderate living farming our land and reduces our property values.
It’s obvious the big-city mentality of Portland and Salem has migrated across the Cascades along with the money. We remember when the people of that part of Oregon were just as opposed to major development as we are here. The Bend-Redmond area has suffered from your lack of courage to defeat widespread development and the greed it creates. I’m sure it’s a plague that spreads from large metro areas like Portland and Seattle. Maybe the current economic crisis will slow the disease.
