I was reading an article in The Bulletin one day and was surprised by it. The title was “U.S. vows to hurry aid to Iran earthquake victims.” The U.S. does not have money. Iran has oil and money, so why are we supporting Iran?

Our city of Bend does not have money to squander, so I was surprised to see a man walking along the sidewalk in my neighborhood and measuring it. My neighbor and I wondered why. His reply was because someone at the city wants to know how many feet of sidewalk there is in Bend.

It seems to me that money could be put to better use than measuring all our sidewalks.
