- Courtesy Gina Binkley Amy Speace visits The BelfryOn Amy Speace’s 2013 album “How to Sleep in a Stormy Boat,” there is a song called “The Sea and the Shore” that pairs the Nashville, Tenn., singer-songwriter with rising folk singer John Fullbright in a duet. It’s an achingly gorgeous tune that showcases both artists’ compelling voices as well as Speace’s natural knack for a simple, memorable melody. But most of all, it is a masterfully told story of lost love, perhaps no surprise from a celebrated songstress who started out as a Shakespearean actress years ago. On Thursday, Speace will stop in Sisters for a show at The Belfry, where she won’t have Fullbright around, but she will be joined by New York City folkie Kenny White. Details below. Elektrapod, Mostest begin runsThere are a couple of residencies starting this week that are worth mentioning, both featuring popular Bend bands. Tonight begins a five-week run of Friday (well, one Saturday on Feb. 15) shows at Blue Pine Kitchen for Elektrapod, a sextet led by guitarist Gabe Johnson and keyboardist Brad Jones. Expect a blazing blend of funk, rock and electro-pop. And on Monday night, Dojo will host the first of four straight Mostest Mondays with local jam-pop group The Mostest. Each will have a special guest: Monday’s is Travis Ehrenstrom, Feb. 10’s is Julianne Southwell, Feb. 17’s is Hobbs Magaret and Feb. 24 is Gabe Johnson. Details below. Punk and metal at Big T’sBig T’s in Redmond is hosting a tasty gathering of local punk ’n’ metal bands Saturday night: The Beerslayers, the Hooligans, Lamp and Rutabaga. Because if Big T’s doesn’t do this, who will? Third Street Pub, but that’s about it. Details below.— Ben Salmon
