The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has announced campfire restrictions in a number of spots east of the Cascades.
Except for in developed campgrounds at Prineville State Park and Jasper Point, campfires and charcoal briquettes are not allowed in remote camping areas around Prineville Reservoir, according to the parks department. Gas stoves are allowed in developed campgrounds there.
The parks department asks that users only build fires in fire rings, keep a bucket of water close by and douse the fire when done. Smoking in state parks and at designated campsites is only allowed in personal vehicles.
