Matisyahu plays surprise show in Bend

One-time Bendite and alt-rock-reggae musician Matisyahu will play a free show Wednesday, Sept. 21, outside at Crow’s Feet Commons.

According to an employee at Crow’s Feet who did not wish to be named, the show came about last minute when a friend of the shop ran into Matisyahu in Drake Park. Matisyahu wanted to play a concert while he was back in Bend, and Crow’s Feet owner David Marchi agreed to the booking, the employee said.

The show will begin at 6 p.m.

Matisyahu was in Bend in February for a show at the Domino Room. The rapper and singer-songwriter lived in Bend for two years, beginning in 1997 when he entered a wilderness program for troubled teens. He’s best known for his mid-2000s hit “King Without a Crown,” and for mixing Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip-hop.
